a secret underground

There's a room under the corner of 21st and Valencia in San Francisco's Mission District that you won't see mentioned in the newspaper. It's a room that was lovingly designed by a local artist and poet and carefully concealed from the authorities, a preservation of the authentic clandestine vibe of an old time speakeasy. Officially it's not a music venue but a gathering space for family and friends that happens to have amazing acoustics and the intimate comfort of a living room.

I've played Viracocha before, but never like the show we're putting on this Saturday, April 27. We'll have a full four piece band, a stripped down Shady Maples set on acoustic guitars and cello, and a raw opening set from an outstanding local band, We Became Owls.

Read this article from SF Gate about Viracocha if you get a chance. An excellent read.

This Saturday, April 27 @ Viracocha

The solo EP is officially a work in progress after five productive days holed up at Bird Creek Studios in Garrison, NY. I'll keep you posted.
